On December 2, 2025, the Sultani River Hotel in Kinshasa hosted the official opening of the national workshop on Cooperative Structuring and Support, a strategic milestone for the future of agriculture in the DRC. The ceremony was chaired by H.E. Grégoire Mutshail Mutomb, Minister of State for Rural Development, in the presence of Mr. Philippe NGWALA MALEMBA, National Coordinator of the FSRDC, financial sponsor of the initiative. Workshop objectives Organized within the PADCV-PTA Program, with technical and financial support from the African Development Bank (AfDB), the workshop (December 02–04, 2025) aims to: • Identify structural challenges limiting cooperative impact; • Strengthen their role in sustainable job creation; • Promote competitiveness, inclusiveness and multisectoral collaboration; • Position cooperatives as drivers of local economic development. A presidential vision in motion This initiative aligns with the vision of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, to build a nation rooted in food sovereignty and rural transformation — reducing urban-rural disparities and empowering communities. FSRDC x AfDB — A strong partnership for agricultural change With funding from FSRDC and support from the AfDB, this workshop marks an important step toward building resilient, structured and high-impact cooperatives across the country. The future of Congolese agriculture grows through strong and structured cooperatives.
