On September 22, 2025, AfDB and FSRDC officially launched the evaluation of the Multinational Project to support crisis-affected populations in Eastern DRC and Burundi.
### Eastern DRC: AfDB and FSRDC working for sustainable solutions On September 22, 2025, in Kinshasa, the evaluation works of the Multinational Project to support populations affected by the crisis in Eastern DRC and Burundi were officially launched. A high-level mission of the African Development Bank (AfDB), led by Mr. Raymond BESONG, Chief Development Economist, opened the session in the presence of the team from the Social Fund of the DRC (FSRDC), headed by Mr. Philippe NGWALA MALEMBA, National Coordinator. This evaluation follows the pre-assessment meetings of July 2025 and is part of the financing requests submitted by the governments of the DRC (loan) and Burundi (grant), through the Transition Support Facility (TSF – Pillar I). **Objective:** to design a structuring project to provide sustainable responses to the humanitarian and security crisis in the East and improve the lives of the affected populations. The discussions focus on: Strategic context and fragility factors Community resilience Financial management and procurement Environmental and social safeguards Gender equality and women’s empowerment And many other essential dimensions These works, which will continue until October 4, 2025, at the FSRDC headquarters, are based on an inclusive approach involving national authorities, public agencies, NGOs, civil society, and technical partners. This project, initiated by the President of the Republic Félix Antoine TSHISEKEDI TSHILOMBO, is part of his social vision “The People First” and marks a key step towards peace, dignity, and resilience for the communities of Eastern DRC.
