FSRDC – WFP: New Country Director for WFP Received in Audience by the FSRDC National Coordinator

A high-level meeting to consolidate a vital partnership. This Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the National Coordinator of the Social Fund of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FSRDC), Philippe Ngwala Malemba, welcomed David Stevenson, the newly appointed Country Director for the World Food Programme (WFP) in the DRC, to Kinshasa.

This initial official meeting was an opportunity for both leaders to review their cooperation and look to the future. Discussions primarily focused on continuing and strengthening their strategic partnership, particularly within the framework of implementing the Agricultural Transformation Program in the DRC (PTA-DRC).

Shared Goals for Community Development

Several initiatives aimed at supporting the socio-economic development of Congolese communities were discussed. Within the Value Chain Development Support Project (PADCV-PTA), collaboration with the WFP focuses on concrete actions:

  • Securing operations in areas identified as the most fragile.
  • Strengthening the food and social resilience of populations, enabling them to better cope with shocks.
  • Improving the project's operational efficiency by leveraging the recognized expertise and unique logistical capacities of the WFP.

A Commitment Serving the Presidential Vision

This partnership dynamic is fully aligned with the vision of the President of the Republic, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, known as the "revenge of the soil on the subsoil". The goal is clear: to make the agricultural sector a true engine of prosperity and guarantee food sovereignty for the DRC.

Coordinated by the FSRDC and funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the PADCV-PTA thus demonstrates its ability to mobilize and unite strong partnerships around a common objective: the sustainable transformation of Congolese agriculture.

Together, the FSRDC and the WFP are strengthening the foundations of a more resilient agriculture and building a more prosperous future for the country's rural communities.
